sampling rate

en

"The number of times per second which a recording device captures the output from a microphone. For example, 48,000 samples per second is a sampling rate of 48,000 Hz. This determines the resolution of the recording. The higher the sampling rate, the greater the maximum frequency that will be recorded, but note this will be at the Nyquist frequncy (see above), not the sampling rate." (from the Acoustic Index User's Guide)
