"The maximum frequency captured in an audio recording. This is dictated by the recorder settings, being half the sampling rate (see below). So, a recording with a sample rate of 48,000 Hz will have a Nyquist of 24,000 Hz, and only able to capture sounds below that frequency." (from the Acoustic Index User's Guide)
